REGISTRATION OF VITAL EVENTS INVOLVING FILIPINO CITIZENS
Vital or Civil Registration is the recording in the appropriate civil registers, vital acts and events that affect the civil status of individuals.
Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages, and all such events that have something to do with an individual’s entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime.
HOW ARE VITAL ACTS AND EVENTS INVOLVING FILIPINO CITIZENS REGISTERED WHEN THESE OCCUR OVERSEAS?
Vital acts and events are reported, instead of registered, when these occur overseas. These reports are filed with the Philippine Embassy or Consulate General with jurisdiction over the country, state, province, county or city where the vital act or event took place.
The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles accepts reports that occur in the following state or counties:
California
Imperial County |
Nevada
Clark County |
Arizona
All counties |
The Consulate General may also accept migrant or out-of-town reports intended to be registered with a different Philippine Consulate General or Philippine Embassy.
